Many homeowners have no idea what it costs to install mulch in the flowerbeds by a professional company. How much mulch is needed and how much this will cost are common questions we hear on a daily basis. This guide will help you break down what it will cost to install mulch in your flower beds. 

One thing to note before we move forward. These prices are reflective of us ONLY installing mulch on the property and not performing any other work. You will get more bang for your buck if you bundle services together and we are on the property for a longer period of time doing different tasks. This is due to the fact that it takes so long and so much labor and drives time to get out to the property in the first place.

The picture above is the standard-sized flowerbeds that most homeowners have. This flowerbed would require 10-15 bags of mulch depending on how large the bags are. Let’s say this homeowner lives in South OKC or Moore, for this example.

In our assessment, the mulch is still in good condition, the weed growth is low or non-existent and the plant material is trimmed enough to make installing mulch easy.

To install mulch in this flowerbed this homeowner would be looking at roughly $350 to install Premium Brown Grade A cedar mulch and clean out any weeds in the flowerbed. If this homeowner wanted to use a lower grade mulch, they would be looking at $275-300.

These 2 flowerbeds are a little bit larger than what we looked at in the first picture. At first glance this flowerbed has more weed growth and more plants to work around, making the installation of mulch slightly more time-consuming. Let’s also assume this customer is in South OKC or Moore, for this example. 

This flowerbed would require 15-20 bags of mulch, depending on the size of the bags. As stated before, this bed has slightly more weed growth but nothing we can’t handle. 

To clean up the weeds and install Premium Grade A Cedar mulch in these 2 beds this homeowner would be looking at roughly $395-450. To install a more basic and budget mulch in this flowerbed the homeowner would be looking at roughly $340.

As you can see, this flowerbed will require considerably more time to clean up than the first 2 beds. The weed growth is very heavy but the plant material is sparse. Let’s assume this customer lives in South OKC or Moore.

One thing to note is that this flowerbed will not be able to have the weeds pulled. Since the weed overgrowth is so heavy we would instead opt to weed-eat down the weeds with a trimmer and spray the weeds with the killer before installing mulch. Our team would go ahead and pull the weeds out and around the shrubs, however, everything else would be trimmed down and sprayed. 

The reason we do it this way is to save money but it also helps get a better kill on the weeds in the bed. Most homeowners do not want to pay us for multiple hours to pull weeds by hand. If we were to pull weeds by hand this homeowner would be looking at around $350-400 just for hand weeding, not including installing mulch. If we were to trim and spray we could do that for 1/8th the price of hand weeding. 

In this example, we would be using roughly 15-25 bags of mulch, depending on the size of the bags. To trim down the weeds, spray them, and install Premium Grade A Cedar Mulch in this bed, the homeowner would be looking at roughly $590. To trim down weeds, spray, and install a budget grade mulch the homeowner would be looking at roughly $500-550.
