regarding landscaping when we are helping our clients with
landscape maintenance projects. Enjoy!


  • When is the right time to install Fescue vs Bermuda Grass?
    • The Spring and Fall time is the best time to install fescue seed and sod. Ideally you want the ambient temp to stay around the 60 degree fahrenheit mark. Bermuda can be installed anytime of the year, even when it is dormant.
  • What should I look for in a landscape company? 
    • Professionalism, reliability, and honesty. However, every landscape company is different and will give you a different “flavor” so to say. You should look for a company that provides timely and friendly service, along with knowing their trade. 
  • How often should I water newly installed sod?
    • We recommend watering for 15-20 minutes per zone per day. Not every property needs the same amount of water so you will have to custom fit your watering schedule to your needs. We recommend checking your sod by sticking a long handle screwdriver into the soil every few days. If the screwdriver comes out like an unfinished cake, you can wait another day or 2 to water. If it comes out dry as a bone, you need to water more. The goal with sod is to keep it moist but not soaking wet. 
  • How often should I re- mulch to my flower beds?
    • We recommend mulching 1 to 2x a year. This will help reduce weed growth in your beds and keep your plants healthy and thriving. 
  • Why do you not mow shorter than 2.5 inches?
    • Mowing shorter than 2.5 can harm your grass. Mowing at 2.5 or above will allow the blades of the grass to shade the soil, reducing its temp and keep the rootzone from burning up. Not to mention, mowing lower at 2.5 inches promotes more weed growth in the lawn vs mowing it higher. 
  • Do you offer a recurring bed maintenance service? 
    • We offer a monthly maintenance package to our clients that want bed maintenance to be easy. Our crew comes out each month and pull weeds, turns over your mulch to help refresh the color, and installs weed control in the flower beds. We do all of this for one monthly fee. 
    • Our recurring bed maintenance runs year around for leaf clean up, bed maintenance, and general cleaning in the winter months. 
  • Why do you only service south okc and moore for mowing but the OKC metro for other services? 
    • Mowing is a very low profit service for us. In order to stay competitive, we must keep our mowing service very tight. Since landscape and bed maintenance services are usually larger, we have the wiggle room to drive further. 
  • Why do you only offer weekly mowing service? 
    • Weekly mowing is the best for your lawn. Your grass expects to be cut each week to keep it looking healthy. Cutting the lawn on an irregular or bi-weekly schedule tends to promote weed growth, and is overall damaging to your lawn. 
  • Are you insured? 
    • Yes, we carry a 1 million dollar liability policy along with workman’s comp and other industry-associated insurances. 
  • What if I need to reschedule my service? 
    • Mowing and recurring bed maintenance service can be rescheduled if more than 24 hrs’ notice is given. We dispatch our routes the night before so we need ample time to reschedule the crew. If less than 24 hrs’ notice is given to reschedule, a service fee may be added to your account. On landscape services like sod, plant install, and mulching, we require 72 hours’ notice before your project starts to reschedule. This is because we usually are dealing with materials we have to purchase before your project starts. If less than 72 hours is given, a fee may be assessed to your account. 
    • We do our best to reschedule your project if ample time is given. 
  • What makes Special T Landscaping different from other landscape companies in OKC? 
    • Special T strives to be the most dependable and professional landscape company in OKC. Unlike our competitors, we do not guarantee to be the cheapest price, however, we do guarantee to give you the most professional and dependable landscape service around. 
    • In our company, communication and teamwork are HUGE! If for any reason your project/ service will be delayed, we will notify you via email. 
  • How is it possible for you to give me a price over the phone? 
    • Being in business for many years now, we have pretty much seen it all. Based on the pictures you sent and Google satellite images we can get a really good feel for what your project will entail. From there we can look back on past projects that have been similar to yours and give you an accurate assessment of what is needed to complete your project. 
    • If you would like a more detailed number we would be happy to do an onsite consultation with you.
  • Why do you require a deposit on landscape services? How much is the deposit?
    • Your deposit guarantees your project is put on the schedule and saves your spot. This deposit also allows us to gather materials, pay subcontractors, and pay our employees to get your project ready to go before our crew arrives. 
    • Our deposit is 50% of the total project cost. This will be due at the time of scheduling.
  • What happens if I need to cancel my project, will I get my deposit back? 
    • If materials and or labor have not been paid or delivered, we will give your deposit back minus any processing fees. We must have 72hrs or longer notice before your project starts to cancel your project.
    • If materials or labor have already been purchased, we will do our best to negotiate with our suppliers/ vendors to get your deposit back, however, we cannot guarantee anything once your project has been scheduled and purchases have already been made.
    • If you think you may have to cancel, please be upfront and honest with us. We will do our best to work with you and figure out the best solution for everyone. 
  • Do you offer a warranty?
    • We do not warranty any sod due to the nature of working with live plant material. It is up to the homeowner to water correctly after the sod is installed. Your estimate will have watering guidelines to ensure your sod survives and thrives after planting.
    • We offer a 1-year warranty on any plant material that was purchased and installed by our company. Most of the risk associated with planting new plants is assumed within the first 4 months of installation. If a plant dies within 4 months of planting we will install a new plant at no cost to you. If a plant dies after the 4-month mark, you will receive a free plant however you will be assessed a labor charge to come and replant the dead plant material.

    • Our warranty does not cover neglect which includes failure to water in periods of drought, overwatering, insect, or disease infestation. Our warranty does not cover loss or damage due to fire, wind, hail, flooding, freeze, chemicals or any other natural disasters that occur beyond our control
    • Our warranty is one time only. If a plant is replaced under warranty, the new plant does not have a new warranty.
    • Exclusions:
      -Certain plant material is not warrantied. Please ask us for more details.
      -Plants that have suffered in appearance but are capable of recovery with proper care.
      -Customers with outstanding balances will not be able to redeem any warranty until all balance is paid in full.
  • Why do you require a card on file? 
    • Having a card on file ensures that we can provide you with the best service possible. Instead of having to worry about paying a check or leaving cash under the mat, we make the billing process super easy for you. Each time your card gets charged, you will get an email receipt in your inbox.
  • What if I don’t want to put a card on file? 
    • Having a card on file is our preferred method of payment, however, if you are not comfortable putting a card on file before your project starts, we require payment in full before your project is scheduled. This can be in the form of cash or a check. This payment allows us to gather materials, pay our subs, and ensure your project goes smoothly. 
    • Mowing and monthly maintenance services require a card on file. We will not accept cash or checks on these 2 services.
  • Can I put a card on file but pay with cash or check? 
    • Yes, you can do that. Please let our office know when we schedule your project and set up your billing. If nothing is said when we take your payment, we will default to charging your card for the half down and at the end of your project.
    • Your half down payment will need to be paid before we can put your project on the schedule. This can be made by check, cash or credit card payment. 
  • How long is your quote good for? 
    • Our quotes are good for 30 days at the time of sending them. However, in our current economic condition pricing on materials from our suppliers and subcontractors is changing at a rapid pace. We will do our best to say within the estimated cost, however, if pricing changes out of our control, we will let you know of any changes to your estimate/ project as soon as we are made aware.
